I didn't want to post this until I had the book in my hand, but I made another purchase for the group... 3-D Tales of the West #1. It was on eBay but I made the seller an offer and he pulled the book. We got it for $115. Considering I was thinking about buying the other copy on ebay for $299, this was a great deal.
I should have it scanned in the next week or so.

Rawhide Kid 001 uploaded
Title says it all!
In case anyone is wondering about the scan credit in the name (ASP-Pmack), I gave it some thought. I know there was a discussion a while back about some people not wanting to join a group per say, but I have been thinking that it doesn't seem right that I scan and upload a book and get all the "credit" for it, especially when it goes public. I decided to use the same credit conventions that the mighty Ontololgy uses when he scans fiche. When he credits the scan, even though he's done all the work himself, he always includes OldWayne, because OW supplied the fiche. (I know sometimes others edit fiche for him, but that doesn't affect my point.) I may have scanned Rawhide Kid 1, but it was supplied by the Atlas Scan Project and they will be credited accordingly.
So from this point on, I'm going to use that convention here as well. Credits will be (ASP-scan-edit). I share all the released files on DC++, and I've renamed them to this standard. Whether or not those of you who edit our scans want to follow this when you upload here is completely up to you, but when I share in the hubs or upload them to the newsgroup they will be standardized to this format.

Rawhide Kid #1
Here's some new info to keep you all up-to-date:
1) As discussed in the comments of the last update, there was a hard-to-find Rawhide Kid #1 up for auction, which I bid on and won. With shipping it came to $235. It has been paid for and I'm just waiting for the arrival.
This is the kind of book I was hoping this project would enable us to get. I don't think anyone here wants to spend that much on one book, so I'm glad you're all in on this.
Gambit informs me that we now only need three issues to complete the series: 5, 6 and 13. Which leads me into item #2...
2) I have sold just about everything we have already purchased and scanned. I think I have less that $25 in books left that haven't been sold yet. With the new donations to the group and the money not spent on RK #1, we have $85 in the kitty. At this point, I'm going to hold onto this money to purchase any/all of the three issues we are missing from Rawhide Kid. If you see one for auction or BIN, or on some other site, get in touch with me and I'll buy it. If you can't get in contact with me and you're afraid it will get sold, buy it yourself and I will fully reimburse you.
3) I mentioned new donations above: Mal32 kicked in another share. In addition, please welcome Fett to the group, who kicked in a little more that our average share.
4) There have been some new files uploaded:
Rawhide Kid 003 - edited by Teachbug
Patsy Walker 030 - edited by montagnard93
I also updated the scan_project file with the latest numbers. I haven't updated the checklist yet, but for those who aren't aware, Brigus has dropped a bunch of excellent-looking early Kid Colt Outlaws in the last week.
5) I'm going to try and set up an RSS feed for this blog later today.

Update: Don't Bury Me, I'm Not Dead!*
Wha? Who? Where am I? it's the end of May? Really? The last thing I remember is the bartender bringing me a drink he said was a special one, just for you... on the house.... Now my wallet and keys are missing, and I've no idea what happened to the last 7 weeks...
Anyway, there are some new files for download. I've updated the project and checklist excel sheets, as I sold several of the books. We took a beating on several of them, especially the books I bought from the seller "lilylovescomics", all of which were so brittle they completely split in half when I went to scan them. Of course this destroyed the resale value. Ugh.
Now available for download:
Apache Kid 12
Battle 29
War Comics 15
I also posted RAWs for Rawhide Kid 3 which will be edited by Teachbug and Patsy Walker 30 which will be edited by Mal32.
All I have left to scan are the two Wyatt Earp books (5 & 25), and I have 5 or 6 books left to sell, which I hope to list this week, then I can focus on getting a few big books like I talked about in the last update.
*post title comes from that cheesy 80s horror movie "The Serpent and the Rainbow".

New member / Project focus shifting
Another Italian member has joined, welcome! Roster currently stands at 14.
-------
OK, I have not been updating this as much as I should, and I've been a bit slow in scanning what has come in. Thanks for your patience!
I think the time is right for a shift in the focus of that this project is trying to do. I'd like to bring it back to how it was originally envisioned: a lot of small contributions to provide the capital needed to make a big purchase that no individual scanner would be likely to purchase on their own.
The reason for this is twofold: the first being that I just can't find the time to scan all these books. While it's great to buy & scan bulk for the project, I have a lot of my own books that need scanning and editing. I have a limited amount of time during the week that I can devote to scanning, and I'm not the fastest scanner around. With the nicer weather coming, I'm even less inclined to spend the weekends cooped up indoors scanning! I've gotten help editing, and while that has been greatly appreciated, even the time it takes me to raw scan half a dozen books is starting to eat up too much time.
The second is that I just really want to see some of these bigger books done, and we've reached a goal I had in my head about what people could reasonably expect for their contribution.
I've always thought that if things went horribly wrong and everyone lost all their money, I'd want to at least ensure people got their money's worth. We are at the point where the project has almost completed processing 34 books, which is to say that everyone paid less than a dollar per scan. Even if there were a few scans you didn't need or want, generally it was a good deal for everyone involved. I think we've accomplished that, so now is the time to start taking bigger "risks" by buying higher-priced books.
So what I'm proposing is that I finish scanning the books I have left (I believe there are 7 books unscanned at the moment), sell all the Project books remaining (16 total), look at the cash we have left and buy one or two big books.
This also means there might be some people who might want to leave the project now, and that's OK. Everyone came together with the idea of accumulating westerns, and now that we are shifting away from that, some may not be interested in what we're working on. Anyone who wants to leave the project should let me know and I will refund their current portion of the kitty once the last of these books are sold. I just did some quick math, and making an assumption that we'd lose certain amount of money on each book, I'm estimating that each share in the project is worth about $19 right now. It will likely end up more than that, but I am working with pessimistic numbers to be safe.
I am considering a few books at the moment. Suggestions are always welcome. I'm looking at books that can be purchased right now, but if you have some ideas on other books we should look for, speak up.
The Witness 001 - one issue Timely, mystery/crime. I know of two copies, one at $350 and one at $325.
Adventures into Terror 043 (001) - first issue, a copy is available for $130.
Sun Girl 002 - last issue to complete this Timely run, a copy is available for $270.
