*Lord, this book is such a headache. The pages are browning at the edges, so when I make auto color corrections that make the middle of the page good, the page borders turn an ugly dark purple. Manual correction still leaves the borders a dark color. Still working on ways to minimize this effect and still have a nice looking book. In addition, the printing of the pages were bad, so on some pages there is a 2" strip through the middle of the page where the red ink was running out. Ugh. I dropped a sample page in the 4shared directory, if anyone has any suggestions.

Angelo: Yes, of course, let Aquila have a shot at it. Does he have a pair of red/green glasses to check the 3-D effects once it's edited? I can make those nasty borders disappear-- that's not the problem. The trouble is that the underlying colors of the browning are red and yellow, but the red on the page needs to be strong for the 3-D effect to work properly.

I took a stab at editing the sample page (but I can't find my 3D glasses!)
If this is acceptable, let me know and I'd be pleased to finalize the scan.
Or: here's the approach I used, which should be easy to add to a batch command: 3 passes
1.marquee at margins, select inverse, replace color (and was most ruthless)
2.marquee in about an inch, select inverse, replace color (and was relatively gentle)
3.marquee in about another inch, select inverse, replace color (and was very gentle).
I suspect there are much more elegant solutions, and better editors are going to suggest them!
I thank Tomander to do the work, so I think it is not necessary I ask to Aquila anymore.

The problem is that even if we have all the Sub-Mariner pages reprinted (with more pages) in Marvel Comics #1 (Oct. 1939), there are other pages about other Timely characters never reprinted anywhere (American Ace, Spy Ring and who know what else)...
Do you have ideas?

We're never going to get a copy of MPFW. There are only 9 known copies. It has never changed hands for less than US$11,000.
Most of the pages have been identified:
Sub-Mariner (8 pages)
American Ace (7 pages)
Spy Ring (6 pages)
Jolly the Newsie (6 pages)
Kartoon story (4 pages)
Some of the content has been reprinted:
- 8 pgs of Sub-Mariner story, reprinted everywhere
- American Ace, reprinted in Marvel Mystery 2 & 3 (story expanded by 5 pgs)
- Spy Ring is the title of the story, the character is "The Wasp", and the story was reprinted in Silver Streak Comics #1 (not a Timely book, but Gleason & Timely both used content from Funnies, Inc.)
You are right Pmack but may I tell you something, please?
1) we have many things to find to have everything and I think we never have to lose the hope to find everything, never say never, please
2) I agree it is very expensive but I don't need to have the original, I hope to be able to find a digital copy or that one day an University or library will scan it for us
3) I have read that there is also a coverless cover, maybe we can try for it
4) if we are crazy and one day in the future we buy an expensive copy of it, we can sell it back after we do what you know
5) are you sure that the story of American Ace was reprinted in Marvel Mystery 2 & 3? I thinked that the "American Ace" story in Marvel Mystery 2 continued from MPFW, was I wrong?
6) if we find a reprint of the missing "Jolly the Newsie" and "Kar Toon" stories we can be ok.
